Life of Pi (2012)

What makes a film special? Amazing scenes of beauty? A script that makes one feel complete? One that addresses its inner questions and wonders? Acting that keeps the spectator pinned down on the story told? The story on top of the obvious story? The hope conveyed despite the ugliness that surrounds us and some times presses on us really hard?

May be all of it 🙂 The “Life of Pi” has it all..

My rating: 08/10

PS. One of the most heartbreaking parts of the movie is the one of the separation of Pi with Charlie Parker. What really hurts there, could not be described better.

Faith, Love and Whiskey (2012)

Faith, Love and Whiskey: an engaged woman comes back to her native place to get together again with her old love. No faith,a lot of love, craziness and whiskey. The most beautiful point of the film is at the end where a poem is narrated about faith, hope and love.

My rating: 06/10

The Sessions (2012)

The Sessions is a Hymn to humanity, humor, strength and perseverance. Ben Lewin created an amazing film which despite the fact that it deals with a very depressing subject manages to make the spectator laugh wholeheartedly in a miraculous manner. Each character in the film is given the right amount of time to display his role and involvement with the main character.

The best film of the festival so far and one of the best films I’ve watched for years.
