The Secret in Their Eyes (El secreto de sus ojos) (2009)

Sometimes, there comes a play that has everything. From where should I start?
The plot. The film makes an excellent back and forth in time, unrolling the events of the past that shaped the present. A murder case that happened decades ago, is still haunting two people who were heavily involved with it. A thriller created with mastery both at the macro and micro level.
The roles. Real characters played in an excellent manner. The story behind the story. So many of them! The explanation of the human passion, the injustice of Justice, the power of the few over the many, friendship transcending death, what we do not do because we dare not to plus an optimism that it may never be too late to make things right.
A friend told me that “El secreto de sus ojos” implies a male or female. This notion fits excellent in the movie. When a director, Juan José Campanella, and two actors, Ricardo Darín & (especially the actress) Soledad Villamil manage to speak the untold just by using her eyes, it is a movie not to be missed.

My rating: 09/10
